The sizes of cover are always accurate as it is made in factory where moulds have already been design. with higher accuracy and the final PVC/HDPE blocks are made in injection moldings machine. In comparison to conventional type of covers the strength of PVC/HDPE cover blocks are much more higher and it hardly gets broken inside cement concrete during placing of heavy steel shutters or during using of heavy vibrators for settling down of concrete/ compaction of concrete.
DURABILITY AND LIFE CYCLE COST Cover Blocks main function is to give proper cover to reinforcement while placing of concrete. If cover is not properly maintained than during ageing of structure, concrete chips off. If cover is not proper during the time of concreting, reinforcement is exposed to atmosphere, which leads to corrosion of reinforcement and hence weakening and finally collapses of any concrete structure. In most of the cases the importance of cover is not taken into consideration while concreting and after ageing it can be seen as a reason of failure of structure. Also one of the prime reason for not maintaining proper cover is because during placing of reinforcement and shuttering material and during vibration for settling concrete heavy loads come on Cover Blocks due to which approx 10% to 15% conventional cover blocks gets broken inside and which finally leads to Improper GOV.: Also conventional Cover Blocks are not dimensionally accurate.
